Acura

Trying to program your HomeLink for your Acura? The video on the right side of the page will teach you what steps you need to follow in order to quickly and easily train your HomeLink. The most commonly needed video will automatically play, but for some garage door openers, we have included manufacturer-specific videos below the main player.

Not into video? You can also get detailed instructions for your specific vehicle by clicking your model name in the list below.

For Acura owners who are using a garage door opener by Genie, Sommer, or who have an older generation of HomeLink (in model years 2008 and earlier), select your training videos from the list beneath the main video.

Park in your garage. Unplug your garage motor. Hold buttons one and three until it starts blinking really fast to clear your codes. It will blink slow then fast. Then choose which button you want to program.

Use your home garage remote controller to program. Hold the home control 2-5 inches away from your car control. Push the button on your home remote and then the button in your car until it starts to blinks. It is now paired. Plug your motor back in. Try the button in your car to see if it works. It should work.

If not you have the rolling code opener. Push the learn button on the motor so the learn light blinks. Then hold the button in your car for 3-4 seconds and check the learn light to see if it cuts off. If not, hold it again for 3-4 seconds.

You may have to hold the button in your car 2-3 times. I had to do mine twice Once the learn light cuts of the button in your car should now work.

You should be able to find this information in your owner's manual, but if you do not have one, then you can try the following: Homelink: Hold the button on the homelink system until it begins to blink. Then, while holding that button, hold the button on your garage door opener until the homelink button blinks faster.

Next you will need to press and release the 'learn' button on the overhead garage door opener. Then, hold the button on the homelink you just programmed until the garage door closes.

( Caution: If you press and hold the 'learn' button it will erase all of the codes programmed into the overhead unit.). For Lift Master Garage door opener. N1) Erase all your codes in the Homelink memory by pressing the two side buttons for 20+ seconds until the Homelink light flashes quickly. N2) Press and Hold your wireless garage door opener and the HomeLink button you want to program until the Homelink light flashes quickly. This will setup the Homelink opener temporarily.

N3) Located and Press a scan button on the Garage door opener. Now press the button on the Homelink that you selected a few times (usually 5-8 times) until the garage door opens with the Homelink. Now its permanent. N- I had this problem myself. I didn't have the wireless garage door opener so I used my keypad outside my home to program the HomeLink. I think I understand the problem, as it appears a lot of other people are asking the same question all over the internet and this site, too.

Answered it elsewhere, but will answer here too: I recently bought a Klic2 from Clicker Products After MUCH research and trying ALL the codes in their instruction manual, (because I was convinced I would succeed somehow - they said so.) it turns out that the Lynx Pro 455 (Model 2211L) operates on a frequency of 303 Mhz. All the other garage door openers operate at different frequencies: the so-called generics at something like 390MHz or 315MHz. Or something like that, anyways. The bottom line is that the Home Depot products currently being sold as 'compatible with EVERY Garage Door Opener' (as clearly stated on the actual package) are NOT compatible with Lynx. In case you are interested, the Lynx garage door opener comes from Lynx products which originates out of New South Wales, but has mfg and distribution in North America. Their very meager and virtually useless emailed the company for a user manual (which is NOT available for download on the website) earlier today. We'll see if they respond.

Totally frustrating. Last little bit if you are interested: The only compatible keypad that I've been able to find is one which is proprietary to the manufacturer, and called 'lynx PROLINE KEYPAD'. The only place that I've been able to find selling this item is DEK Canada Strangely enough, I can't find any place that actually sells the Lynx Garage Door Openers brand new?

Anyone have any idea if these are actually retailed to consumers? This unit came installed in a new construction project - so perhaps the builder got a deal. I can't find Lynx at Home Depot, Rona, CDN Tire or elsewhere. In the car, press and HOLD the outer two HomeLink buttons until the HomeLink light begins to flash rapidly.

This will clear any old codes left in the car's controls. Take the garage remote and hold it near the HomeLink buttons. Press and HOLD BOTH the garage remote and one of the HomeLink buttons until the HomeLink light begins to flash rapidly.

Now your car has learned the proper garage door code, but you must get 'permission' from the garage door opener itself before it will let the Buick open the door: 3. Climb up on a ladder and press the 'Learn' button on the back of the garage door opener. WITHIN 30 SECONDS, get back into the car and press the programmed HomeLink button 3 times, for about 2 seconds each time. When the garage light flashes, your code is locked in! (Different door opener power heads have different routine to 'learn' the HomeLink remote. Consult your owner manual for the door opener power head to program it to learn mode.) More specifics are available at homelink.com. Here are the official instructions that came with the device:.

Lift the cover to access the keypad. Decide on a 4-digit code using numbers 0 to 9. You can use a number more than once (for example, 4, 0, 4, 1). Press the selected code digits on the keypad; then press and HOLD the ENTER button, and press the SRT button on the opener end panel (behind the Control Center for screwdrive), Figure 2. (my note, this is the green button). Depending on your opener model, when you press the SRT button either the opener light(s) will flash or the garage door will begin to move. Release the ENTER button.

The opener has now learned the selected code and will respond to future keypad commands. My notes: That is the official instructions. Works similar to a non-keypad transmitter. Unfortunately the green button (SRT) on the back of my opener does not seem to work. It will not clear codes or anything On the door opener attached to the ceiling by where the wall button wire attaches there should be a 1/4 inch square GREEN button. Push this and it should stay on or flash. Then push the button on the transmitter.

The button on the opener should flash, this means it has recorded the transmitter. For a keypad control, On the door opener attached to the ceiling by where the wall button wire attaches there should be a 1/4 inch square GREEN button. Push this and it should stay on or flash. Once the button is on, you have 30 seconds to enter a 4 digit code in the keypad and touch Enter. The keypad on the key panel control should flash. Enter the 4 digit code again and the door should open/close.

New Car: Erase previous codes by pressing and holding two outsidebuttons for 20 s until red light flashes. Release buttons, proceedto step 1. Unplug garage door opener from house current.

Holdgarage door opener remote control 2 - 5 in from HomeLink keepingred light in view. Select Homelink button you want to train.

4.Press and hold the button on the remote control and the button onthe HomeLink at the same time and keep holding both buttons down.Canadian owners may have to press and release the remote unit every2 seconds to keep the remote transmitting. The red light on theHomeLink will begin flashing, slowly at first then rapidly.

Whenthe red light flashes rapidly, release both buttons. Plug in thegarage door motor and test the the HomeLink transmitter by holdingdown the button you programmed. The door should operate. If it doesnot, then you may have a variable or rolling code garage dooropener.

Test this by holding the HomeLink transmitter button youjust trained. If the red light blinks for two s then stays on,lucky you, you have a rolling code garage door opener.

Not toworry, see below for Plan B! Repeat the steps to train the otherbuttons on the HomeLink. TRAINING WITH A ROLLING CODE SYSTEM aka Plan B.

Complete steps1-8 above first. Find the 'Training Button' on the garage dooropener unit.

This may be on the back of the motor, or some unitsmay allow training to be initiated from the wired remote unit inthe garage itself. Press and hold the training button on thegarage door opener unit (or equivalent action as per the openerinstructions). The light may blink or come on and stay on. You nowhave 30 s or so to press and hold the HomeLink button for 3-4 s(the very same button you trained above in steps 1-8) This shouldresult in a signal of some sort from the garage door openerunit.the training light could turn off, the light on the openercould blink, etc.

You may have to press the HomeLink button 3 or 4times for the unit to recognize the HomeLink system. Press theHomelink button again, the garage door system should operate! It's called a homelink transmitter. To clear all previous programming, before you start, hold down the two outside buttons for 10-30 seconds until the red light blinks rapidly.

Sometimes it clears quickly and sometimes it takes a while, but it will blink very rapidly when it's cleared. Then to program, you have to have a remote control for the garage door you wish to program. Hold the remote control near the buttons. Press and hold the button on the remote control. Without releasing that button, press and hold the button you want to program. The red light will blink slowly and then when it 'memorizes' the code, the red light will start blinking at a different speed. Now the car has programmed the remote to it.

You are done, unless. If you have a newer garage door opener, there is more than likely a 'learn' button on the back of the motor itself. If this is the case, you have to press the 'learn' button on the back of the motor and then immediately press the button in your car. This has something to do with rolling code technology. If this isn't completely right (I'm telling you this from memory), go to homelink.com for more information. Don't forget to delete your programming before you sell your car.
